ENCE welcomes Eemeli Ikonen and opens applications for the Academy Head Coach

The plans for the ENCE Academy program were announced earlier this year, and now, we’re laying the groundwork for it. Eemeli Ikonen joins in to lead the program, and we have opened applications for the Academy Head Coach role.

Eemeli “Woomera” Ikonen is a familiar name in the Finnish esports circles, known for his work in hREDS, the esports team of the Finnish sports club, HIFK. There he acted in a variety of roles, ranging from a professional Overwatch player to a Head of Operations.

“I feel very grateful to be able to put my own signature into the ENCE Academy.”, says Eemeli Ikonen.

With his unique skill set and experience working with youth, Eemeli is the right person for the job that requires a deep understanding of the field through both the lens of a player and an organization. His values and work ethic are a perfect match for what ENCE represents and what we want to cultivate in the ENCE Academy.

Applications open for the ENCE Academy Head Coach position

We’re looking for the next important piece – the Academy Head Coach. The coach works both independently and in collaboration with Eemeli on a variety of tasks, including but not limited to; being involved in the Academy team’s regular practice, actively scouting and working with an extensive pool of young CS:GO prospects on a weekly basis, guiding the players in both gameplay and tactics, and creating homework and assignments. The coach will also manage the team together with Eemeli and go through other essential themes with the rest of the ENCE staff.

“ENCE is looking for a coach for the Academy program through an open application process because we want to comprehensively see what the field has to offer and what kind of new Finnish talent we can find,”

- Eemeli “Woomera” Ikonen, ENCE Academy Program Lead

The requirements for this position include a comprehensive knowledge and deep understanding of CS:GO, as well as the ability to converse in both Finnish and English. Previous experience in coaching or youth work is considered a plus but not mandatory. Additionally, living near the Helsinki area is seen as beneficial due to the location of the ENCE office and possible traveling.

However, we aren’t looking for a complete package. ENCE’s existing infrastructure offers a great support system and a chance to develop and hone your skills as a coach.

This is a paid position.

The applications will be open for two weeks, ending on the 22nd of March at 23:59 EET. We’ll be in contact with each of the respondents after the application period.
